Maktub is an Arabic word meaning “it is written”, “it is written by God”, or “it is written in the hands of fate.”

This is the story of how my dear brother, Marlon, announced my pregnancy a few days before I had confirmed it.

How this son of mine, who is now 23 weeks grown in my belly, first proclaimed his presence around these parts.

To begin, I must take us back to a few days before I confirmed that I was pregnant.

To when my (soon to be discovered) baby daddy and I were going through a torrential breakup.

{ This piece is an intimate account. A story near and dear, that at the same time, was begging to be shared…behind a paywall…enjoy! }
